An Exact Solution to Steady Heat Conduction in a Two-Dimensional Annulus on a One-Dimensional Fin: Application to Frosted Heat Exchangers With Round Tubes

چکیده
The fin efficiency of a high-thermal-conductivity substrate coated with a low-thermalconductivity layer is considered, and an analytical solution is presented and compared to alternative approaches for calculating fin efficiency. This model is appropriate for frost formation on a round-tube-and-fin metallic heat exchanger, and the problem can be cast as conduction in a composite two-dimensional circular cylinder on a one-dimensional radial fin. The analytical solution gives rise to an eigenvalue problem with an unusual orthogonality condition. A one-term approximation to this new analytical solution provides fin efficiency calculations of engineering accuracy for a range of conditions, including most frosted-coated metal fins. The series solution and the one-term approximation are of sufficient generality to be useful for other cases of a low-thermal-conductivity coating on a high-thermal-conductivity substrate. Heat Conduction in Spherical Composite Vessels
This paper presents an exact analytical solution for two-dimensional conductive heat transfer in spherical composite pressure vessels .The vessels are in spherical shape and fibers are winded in circumferential direction. The analytical solution is obtained under the general boundary conditions which consist of convection, conduction and radiation inside/outside of vessel. The heat transfer equ...
متن کاملOptimal Pareto Parametric Analysis of Two Dimensional Steady-State Heat Conduction Problems by MLPG Method
Numerical solutions obtained by the Meshless Local Petrov-Galerkin (MLPG) method are presented for two dimensional steady-state heat conduction problems. The MLPG method is a truly meshless approach, and neither the nodal connectivity nor the background mesh is required for solving the initial-boundary-value problem. The penalty method is adopted to efficiently enforce the essential boundary co...
متن کاملForced Convection Heat Transfer of Giesekus Viscoelastic Fluid in Concentric Annulus with both Cylinders Rotation
A theoretical solution is presented for the forced convection heat transfer of a viscoelastic fluid obeying the Giesekus constitutive equation in a concentric annulus under steady state, laminar, and purely tangential flow. A relative rotational motion exists between the inner and the outer cylinders, which induces the flow. A constant temperature was set in both cylinders, in this study. The f...
متن کاملFlow and Pressure Distributions in Short Heat Exchanger Cores with Abrupt Entrance and Exit
The typical installation of a heat exchange device usually involves a flow contraction at the core entrance and a flow expansion at the core exit. Repeated flow Contraction and expansion are experienced in the flow passages of some compact heat exchangers. The latter refers to the flow passages in the plate-fin type with louvered fins or stripped fins and in the tubular type with dimpled-circul...
متن کاملInvestigating Tubes Material Selection on Thermal Stress in Shell Side Inlet Zone of a Vertical Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger
In this study, the effect of the tube material on the thermal stress generated in a vertical shell and tube heat exchanger is investigated. Shell and tube heat exchangers are the most common heat exchangers used in industries. One of the most common failures in these exchangers in the industry is the tube failure at the junction of the tube to tubesheet. When the shell side and the tube side fl...
